Operation IceBridge 2016 Arctic
This campaign was a unique one, in that since all the usual NASA aircraft we use was being repaired, so the team worked with NOAA to use one of their P-3 "Hurricane Hunters" for the campaign. After what seemed to be an unlucky streak of mechanical issues, leading to a month's delay in the aircraft making it into the field, it met up with a couple of team members from the Project Science Office at Goddard, including myself, already in Greenland. We had arrived at Thule in early April, thinking the plane would beat us. We not only beat it, but had a number of days to both prep for our team's arrival as well as get in a significant amount of sightseeing. Ultimately the plane arrived and I was lucky enough to participate in three science flights before flying back home from Fairbanks, AK.
